About the Presentation:

Topic: Effectively Specifying Building Automation and Controls Systems

This presentation will provide mechanical consulting engineers with a practical overview of how to effectively specify building automation and controls systems within Division 23 and the industry shift toward Division 25 and integrated automation in HVAC.

• Defining controls requirements, including when controls should be fully furnished and installed by controls contractor versus packaged controls.
• Specifying an acceptable controls contractor versus specifying a controls manufacturer.
• Introducing the industry's shift toward Division 25 and integrated automation.

About the Presenter:

Trey Sellers is a South Carolina native and lifelong Gamecock who has called Colorado home since late 2018. He originally headed west from Charlotte for what was supposed to be a temporary hiatus from real life, spending about a year in Vail as a snowboard bum.

 After the shocking realization that there is, in fact, more to life than SEC football—contrary to everything he was raised to believe—Trey moved to Denver, where he could combine his love of live music with easy access to the mountains and embrace life as a weekend warrior.

 With exactly zero HVAC, controls, or engineering experience, Trey joined Setpoint Systems in February 2020 in a sales role. In a stroke of impeccable timing, he was assigned Southern Colorado as his territory, just as COVID made meeting new customers and building relationships in Denver more difficult than ever.

 Despite that unconventional start, Trey built a successful career at Setpoint and currently serves as Setpoint Systems’ Sales Manager as well as President of the ASHRAE Pikes Peak Chapter.

Fun fact: Before moving to Colorado, Trey missed just one home Gamecock football game in 30 years—a streak that includes the pre-birth season he attended from the comfort of his mom’s belly.
