Presentation: Predictive EUI Modeling and Benchmarking Standards

With many benchmarking and building performance standards being implemented across the state and country, there is more pressure on the industry to develop accurate, predictive energy models.  In this presentation, we will start off by talking about the differences between comparative and predictive energy modeling. Next, we will review a study comparing traditional, comparative energy models used for code compliance and rating systems to the actual energy consumption benchmarked by those buildings. Last, we will take a deep dive into how we can improve the predictive capability and accuracy of our models with adjustments to traditional modeling protocols and by requesting more detailed information on the building.

Libby is Senior Project Manager on the Energy Team at Group14 Engineering, located in Denver, CO. She provides energy-efficiency and decarbonization consulting services to a variety of building types, ranging from multifamily to public services. She works closely with design teams and owners to establish operational energy and carbon goals that align with each project’s specific needs and constraints."
