Please join us for a tour of a local all-electric and sustainable home in Wolcott.  The home features some straw bale exterior walls, selective thermal massing, a passive solar design on a sunny lot, an indoor greenhouse, super insulated and tightly sealed core and shell with a modern design. This private home was designed and built by the owner, Chris Lammers, who has a passion for natural and sustainable building. The structural design was engineered  by R.E.G. from Crested Butte and the heat pump system was a design build system by Skyline Mechanical. The home features a cost-effective and luxurious design using a single five-ton heat pump serving six zones with (4) ductless ceiling units and (2) fan coils that connect to the ERV and bath exhaust.  A 5KW solar PV system that “banks” electrical energy during peak months with Holy Cross Energy roughly supports half the yearly energy usage, leaving an approximate yearly energy bill of only $1,400. Additionally, a masonry heater wood burning fireplace helps with winter heating and makes a great pizza!
