Overview of How to Control Motors, VFDs, and EC Motors

The presentation will cover terms commonly used in HVAC motor specifications. Motor construction including
type of motors and motor enclosure will explained, in detailed, by way of a virtual visit to Loren Cook Company
technical center. Additionally, the topic of what motors can and cannot be control and the best methods for
control motors will be explored.

Presenter: Chris Curry, Loren Cook Company
Chris Curry started at Cook 26 years ago as an engineering intern. From his intern position he went onto be a
Manufacturing Engineer, Product Development Engineer, Application Engineer, and is currently a Product
Manager at Cook. During his tenure at Cook, Chris has experienced all aspect of the design and manufacturing
process of fans, as well as, helped consulting engineers specify and troubleshoot ventilation systems. Chris is
married and has been for almost 27 years. He and his wife have two kids.
