Overview: Sheila will be presenting her Presidential theme for the Society year: “Building Our New Energy Future.” “We are at the front end of a major evolutionary change in how energy systems interact,” said Hayter. “Instead of individual systems—buildings, utilities, the transportation sector, and the industry sector—it’s becoming one system, and buildings are going to play a central role in that new paradigm. Buildings will be where energy is generated, stored, and commandeered, and we will be optimizing energy flow in a different way.”

Presenter: Sheila J. Hayter, P.E., is ASHRAE’s President for the 2018-2019 term. Hayter has previously served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer, two terms as Vice President, and Director-at-Large. She is the recipient of ASHRAE's Distinguished Service Award, Exceptional Service Award, and an ASHRAE Technology Award. She is an ASHRAE Fellow and a Distinguished Lecturer. Hayter is a group manager with the Integrated Applications Center at the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colo., where she has worked since 1992. She leads a team of experts who support international, federal, state, and local entities with the goal of significantly reducing nonrenewable energy consumption though optimized use of energy efficiency strategies and renewable energy technologies as well as addressing challenges to increase resiliency in the built environment.  https://www.ashrae.org/about/leadership/ashrae-president
