FIRE SMOKE DAMPERS - WHAT, WHY, WHERE, AND HOW
Overview:
This presentation will provide a history of Fire Smoke dampers, what codes apply and why, where are they applied and how is the best way to install and apply them.
Fort Collins Presenter:
Kent Maune started with Ruskin in 1985 and for more than 31 years I held position in Engineering, R & D, Operation and Sales. For the last 14 years; Kent been responsible for Development and Marketing of Ruskin’s Life Safety Product lines, including testing, manufacturing and field application of Underwriters Lab classified and listed products.Kent has developed seminars and trained Code Officials, Engineers, Fire Marshals, Architects and Sheet Metal Contractors on Fire/Smoke Damper Installation, Options and Variations. Kent is also a member of NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and a member of CARC (Code Action Review Committee) who works through AMCA to continue a minimum life safety requirement of ICC (International Code Council) and CSFM (California State Fire Marshal) code adoption.
Denver Presenter:
Richard Cravy is a Regional Sales and Application Manager for Ruskin Company. He has worked for Ruskin for over 30 years and resides in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Rick’s career with Ruskin began in the service department as a service engineer but he has been involved in sales and marketing for the last 20 years. Before Ruskin, Rick’s experience included the United States Marine Corps and employment in the temperature controls industry. He attended school at Missouri Institute of Technology, where he studied Electronic Engineering. Rick is an ICC, ASHE and NFPA member. He is currently a voting member on the technical committee for NFPA80 and 105 and a past chairperson for the Air Movement and Control Association’s Code Action and Review Committee. He has authored or co-authored several articles about fire/smoke dampers for trade publications and has developed or assisted in developing seminars about fire/smoke dampers. He has helped educate Code Officials, Engineers, Fire Marshals, Architects and Sheet Metal Contractors about the Building Codes and about the proper Installation and Application of Fire/Smoke Dampers.
